Membership dues are $15 per year for single residents
$20 for non-resident single membership
$25 for resident married couples
$35 for non-resident married couples
Must be at least 55 years or older to join; younger spouses are also welcome to join.
Membership is NOT limited to Vandalia residents.
Seniors are welcome to visit the center up to 3 times before joining.
Renewal is based on the calendar year and is due every January 1
Congregate Lunch - Every Monday and Wednesday at noon, we will be serving lunch at the Senior Center. Open to anyone age 60 and up. Must make a reservation in advance. Registrations for Monday need to be done by noon on the Wednesday before. Registrations for Wednesday need to be done by noon on the Monday before. Menus change monthly and are available upon request. There is a suggested donation of $2.00 per meal.
$2 Breakfast: Once a month on a Friday morning there is a $2 breakfast made by Seniors Helping Seniors. It is limited to thirty people. Please pay your $2 in the office before that morning.
Birthday Celebration - On the last Wednesday of each month, we celebrate with the people who had birthdays that month. Cake is served to each person who is at the center. The cake is provided by Friendship Village.
Veterans information available by a Veterans Service Officer every third Thursday of the month from 1:00 p.m. - 3:00 p.m. No appointment necessary.
BINGO is offered several times a month, but always on the first Thursday of the month at 1:00 p.m. and the last Friday of the month at 1:00 p.m.
Sinclair College for Lifelong Learning
Classes are held at the Senior Center with instructors provided by Sinclair Community College. Registration is required through Sinclair College.
Exercise: 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
History: Mondays, 1:00 p.m. - 3:15 p.m.
Painting: Thursdays, 12:00 p.m. - 3:15 p.m.
Arts & Crafts
Super Sewers meets every other Tuesday from 9:00 a.m. to Noon. This group makes quilts, lap robes, baby quilts and walk bags to donate to Children's Medical Center, Hospice of Dayton and nursing homes. A wide variety of their items (quilts, casserole carriers, cloth children's book,etc) are also sold at the Annual Bazaar and throughout the year as available.
Floral Group generally meets on Tuesdays at 9:00 a.m. Please call before coming as this group meets periodically during the month. This group creates beautiful silk floral arrangements, seasonal decorations and memorials. Items are displayed and sold year round with a special Christmas display at the Annual Bazaar and throughout the year as available.
Krafty Bloomers meet the first and third Mondays at 1:00 p.m.
Card Groups- New Players are always welcome. Table hosts are listed in the monthly newsletter
Canasta - Monday at 1:15 p.m.
Bridge - Tuesdays at 10:00 a.m.
Party Bridge - Wednesdays and Thursdays at 12:30 p.m.
Pinochle - Tuesday and Thursdays at 1:00 p.m.
Bid Euchre - First and third Wednesdays at 12:30 p.m.
Duplicate Bridge - Thursdays at 12:30 p.m.
Penny Ante Poker - Fridays at 1:00 p.m.
Billiards - The pool room is open daily to all members. There are two billiard tables available for practice and competition.
Travel - We have an outstanding and popular travel program. There are up to 12 trips per year and rarely a cancelation. Must make deposit at sign up. Trips fill up quickly. The itinerary includes a number of day and overnight trips of varying length. Favorites of everyone are one-day mystery trips and the annual casino trip. It's great to go to so many enjoyable places while leaving the driving to someone else. We always have a great time!

Potluck - Bring your favorite dish to share, plus disposable table service. Meals are the first and third Fridays and chicken will now be supplied by the board for those that are attending. Dinners are always held at 6 p.m. November is a special month as we THANK the city departments and Parks and Rec teams with an appreciation POT LUCK LUNCH at 12:00 p.m. (First Friday of the month) and on the third Friday we have our Thanksgiving Pot Luck lunch for all members. Please sign up for potlucks by the day before at 1 PM.

Senior Citizens Club- Business meetings are held the first Friday of each month. The Senior club's board conducts a business meeting immediately following the potluck dinner. Members of the Center have the opportunity to voice their concerns, ideas and opinions and have the opportunity to vote at these meetings.

Transportation - VanTran is available to residents of Vandalia and Butler Township, age 60 years and older on Monday, Wednesday or Friday 9:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. Destinations may include, but are not limited to, grocery, bank, post office, pharmacy, hair solon, medical appointment, church, senior center, recreation center. Riders are required to board the vehicle unassisted. Vehicle is not wheel chair accessible at this time. $20.00 registration & $10.00 fee required to utilize VanTran services. Senior Center membership not required. Cost per one-way trip is $1.00, $2.00 or $3.00 depending on location area of drop-off/pick up. For more information please contact the Senior Center.
