The Park and Recreation Advisory Board is comprised of seven members: one member is a council member selected by a majority vote of Council. The Board of Education of the Vandalia-Butler City School District shall select one member from the Board of Education (such appointee is a resident of Vandalia) or a resident of the City selected by the Board of Education of the Vandalia-Butler City School District. The appointee of the Board of Education of the Vandalia-Butler City School District is approved by the City Council. The Board is an advising body to the Director of Parks and Recreation and makes recommendations to City Council regarding fees, policies and other Parks and Recreation issues; therefore, serving as an avenue for citizens to voice concerns or make appeals. Members of the board of Pam Perilman, Lenny Maenza, Bud Zupp and Meredith Leslie, Larry Taylor, Dave Brusman and Bob Costello. The Board is intended to engender a tenable social network between the community, the school district and the Parks and Recreation Department in order to provide a means of continuous improvement of services, facilities and programs. The board members are active in the community and are attentive to the needs of the public. Meetings are held on the third Wednesday of the month at 6:30 pm at the Vandalia Senior Citizens Center, 21 Tionda Drive South, unless otherwise noted. The Board generally plans to recess in June, July, August, and December. The public is encouraged to attend. If you would like to view the minutes of previous meetings, click here.
