PART TIME/SEASONAL JOB FAIR

From January 19 to February 15, 2014, the City of Vandalia will recruit part time and seasonal employees for its Parks and Recreation Department, Facilities Maintenance Division, Cassel Hills Golf Course and Swimming Pool and its Public Works Department. Interested candidates are encouraged to apply in person at our Second Annual Job Fair on Sunday, January 19, noon to 3 p.m. at the Vandalia Rec Center. Candidates may drop in anytime during the three-hour Fair. Supervisory staff and managers will be on hand to speak with applicants about employment opportunities and to answer questions.
Part-time, year ‘round positions available periodically at the Vandalia Rec Center and in our Facilities Maintenance Division include jobs like the following:
Ages 15 and older: Climbing Wall, Swim Lesson Aide, Lifeguard (requires certification), Fitness Center Attendant, Indoor Playground Attendant.
Ages 16 and older: Childcare Attendant, Custodial, Swim Lesson Instructor (requires certification)
Ages 17 and older: Front Desk Attendant
Ages 18 and older: Aerobics & Fitness Instructor (requires certification), Facility Coordinator
Part-time, 2014 SEASONAL (Summer/Early Fall only) positions that may be available in the Parks and Recreation and Public Works Departments and at Cassel Hills Golf Course include the following:
Ages 14 and older: Youth Sport Official, Sports Complex Concessionaire,
Ages 15 and older: Cassel Hills Pool Lifeguard (requires certification), Swim Lesson Aide
Ages 16 and older: Swim Lesson Instructor (requires certification), Pool Maintenance, Park/Facility Maintenance, Golf Maintenance, Golf Cart Assistants, Vending Attendant
Ages 18 and older: Summer Camp Counselor, Part Time Public Works Technician
Ages 19 and older: Golf Snack Bar Attendant (age 21 preferred)

RESERVE POLICE OFFICERS

With a tradition of service excellence, the nationally-accredited Vandalia Police Division accepts applications year ‘round from energetic and skilled professionals who would like to serve our community and citizens as Volunteer Reserve Police Officers.
Applicants must be 21 years old upon application. They must possess or obtain, upon appointment, a valid Ohio driver's license and Ohio Peace Officer certification. Chosen candidates must reside within Montgomery County or in an adjacent county to include Butler, Warren, Greene, Clark, Miami, Darke or Preble.
Reserve Officers receive a non-accountable expense reimbursement of $450. They are provided with uniforms; professional liability insurance; accidental death and dismemberment coverage; a family pass to the municipal swimming pool and individual recreation center and golf passes for their personal use.

PART TIME IT SUPPORT TECHNICIAN
The City of Vandalia is seeking a Part Time Information Technology Support Technician to assist its IT Department. Reporting to the Information Technology Manager, the chosen candidate will provide Tier 1 Support to Vandalia employees, providing hands-on assistance to workstations and users, as well as Helpdesk support. The technician will work 23 hours per week; preferred schedule Monday through Wednesday during regular business hours, 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Candidates must possess an associate’s degree in an IT-related program (MIS, Networking,Support, Management, etc.) OR be currently enrolled in such program OR hold one year of relevant, IT-related job experience.
They must exhibit experience configuring and troubleshooting Microsoft Windows workstations and working with Microsoft Office products; understanding of LAN/WAN technology, IP network configuration and wireless communication; basic understanding of Microsoft Windows Server 2003/2008 and Active Directory.
Additionally, they must possess excellent verbal/written communication skills, be able to work independently and with a team and interact with co-workers and internal customers in a professional manner.
Performance responsibilities will include the following:
1. Manage helpdesk tickets by responding to Tier 1 issues, such as basic hardware and software problems. Duties often include software troubleshooting and installation, application upgrades and software rollouts as well as basic printer support.
2. Active Directory account support and NTFS Permissions
3. WiFi implementation and support
4. Support for PCs, tables, laptops and various peripherals.
5. Update network documentation and diagrams for servers, workstations, network equipment and logical processes of applications
6. Various other duties as assigned
Hourly pay rate is $9.50. The position will remain open until filled.
