CITY OF VANDALIA
PUBLIC WORKS TECHNICIAN
The City of Vandalia is seeking a skilled, energetic professional to join its outstanding Public Works team. Committed to exemplary service, technicians are responsible for all aspects of public works construction and maintenance--streets, curbs, sidewalks; water, sewer and storm infrastructure. They drive trucks, mow, plow snow and operate equipment; perform guardrail work, grave opening and closing, leaf and large trash collection, painting and installation of traffic markings and devices, etc.
Applicants must demonstrate knowledge of public works/utility construction and maintenance practices and materials and 1-2 recent years’ experience in outdoor work, vehicle and equipment operation and heavy labor for extended periods of time. They must be available for periodic overtime--nights, weekends, holidays. Those with prior public works experience may be considered first.
Candidates must obtain a Class A Commercial Driver’s License within six months of appointment. Those with a current, valid Class A CDL may be considered first. They must be at least 18 with a high school diploma or GED. Due to occasional emergency call-out, they must reside in Montgomery County or adjacent county.
Candidates will undergo interviews, extensive background investigation and DOT physical and drug screen.
Starting rate is $17 per hour; outstanding fringe benefits.

RESERVE POLICE OFFICERS
Vandalia Division of Police
With a tradition of service excellence, the nationally-accredited Vandalia Police Division accepts applications year ‘round from energetic and skilled professionals who would like to serve our community and citizens as Volunteer Reserve Police Officers.
Applicants must be 21 years old upon application. They must possess or obtain, upon appointment, a valid Ohio driver's license and Ohio Peace Officer certification. Chosen candidates must reside within Montgomery County or in an adjacent county to include Butler, Warren, Greene, Clark, Miami, Darke or Preble.
Reserve Officers receive a non-accountable expense reimbursement of $450. They are provided with uniforms; professional liability insurance; accidental death and dismemberment coverage; a family pass to the municipal swimming pool and individual recreation center and golf passes for their personal use.
