Vandalia Division of Fire
The City of Vandalia is seeking skilled clerical applicants for the full time position of Office Manager in its Division of Fire.
Reporting to the Fire Chief, the chosen candidate will answer phones; prepare reports, forms and correspondence; keep records and provide a variety of clerical and administrative support for the sixty-five member Fire staff.
The successful candidate will hold a high school diploma or GED and at least six months’ previous relevant secretarial experience. Preference may be given to those with secondary education at a college or business school level. The chosen candidate must exhibit excellent organizational, communication, keyboarding and proofreading skills and proficiency in Outlook, Microsoft Word and Excel. Ability and willingness to work independently in a fast-paced and unpredictable environment is required!
Salary range is $17 to $22 per hour to start, DOQ. With a current pay range of up to $28, the position provides excellent growth potential for the right candidate.

CITY OF VANDALIA
TEMPORARY PART TIME
With projects keeping it busy into the late fall, the Vandalia Public Works Department is accepting applications for a Temporary Part Time Technician.
Candidates must be at least 18 and have a valid Ohio driver's license. Those with recent, demonstrated successful experience in landscaping, construction work or similar work will be given first consideration.
The position is temporary. Work hours will be 7 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. up to five days per week through November. Hourly pay rate is $8.00. There are NO health care or other benefits; the position is strictly temporary and is ideal for a student, retiree or as a supplement to another flexible part-time job.
Oral interviews will be conducted as well as an extensive background investigation and drug testing for those holding commercial driver’s licenses.

Part Time Administrative Assistant
VANDALIA CITY MANAGER’S OFFICE
The Vandalia City Manager’s Office is seeking an energetic and experienced assistant to work part time.
Schedule in this fast-paced and enjoyable environment is ideally Monday-Friday, 9 or 10 a.m. to 2 or 3 p.m. Schedule could be flexible, depending upon your need. Position plays an integral role in assisting human resources, economic development, communications and miscellaneous City projects.
Candidates must be well-versed in Microsoft Office applications-- particularly Excel—as well as web-based applications. They must work quickly but understand the importance of confidentiality, accuracy and detail. Filing/recordkeeping are critical functions.
Candidates should demonstrate recent successful administrative experience (within the last 3-5 years), excellent customer service, outgoing rapport and a proven track record in the planning and completion of special projects or assignments. Those with a background in human resources are encouraged to apply and may receive first consideration.
Hourly rate will be up to $13, DOQ. There are no benefits or paid leave and the position is strictly PART time. Opportunity for promotion or transfer is extremely limited; the position is ideal for an individual looking for some flexibility in hours and who wishes to work only part time.

RESERVE POLICE OFFICERS

With a tradition of service excellence, the nationally-accredited Vandalia Police Division accepts applications year ‘round from energetic and skilled professionals who would like to serve our community and citizens as Volunteer Reserve Police Officers.
Applicants must be 21 years old upon application. They must possess or obtain, upon appointment, a valid Ohio driver's license and Ohio Peace Officer certification. Chosen candidates must reside within Montgomery County or in an adjacent county to include Butler, Warren, Greene, Clark, Miami, Darke or Preble.
Reserve Officers receive a non-accountable expense reimbursement of $450. They are provided with uniforms; professional liability insurance; accidental death and dismemberment coverage; a family pass to the municipal swimming pool and individual recreation center and golf passes for their personal use.
