Paramedic Cheatwood was named EMS Person of the Year for 2011. Paramedic Cheatwood began his career with the Vandalia Fire Division as an "explorer" while still in high school. He was hired as a paid on call firefighter July 9, 2010, and after obtaining his EMT status was hired as a part time firefighter/EMT. He consistently performed above average and on several occasions he has gone "above and beyond" our expectations. Cheatwood has received commendations for both customer service and for his actions at the scenes of fires and EMS reponses. He has consistently displayed his professionalism, his dedication, and excellence at all times. Paramedic Cheatwood finished in the top five of his class in Paramedic's school at Sinclair Community College.
