EMS BILLING In February of 2003, city council approved legislation that allowed the Division of Fire to bill customers for emergency medical services. The division charges the Medicare suggested rates, plus mileage, to our customer's health insurance carrier. The Division of Fire contracts with MED 3000 to carry out our billing. EMS REPORTS EMS reports may be picked up at Fire Administration, Monday through Friday, during regular business hours. EMS reports will only be provided to the patient whose name appears on the report or their legal guardian. Customers requesting access to their Protected Health Information (PHI) will be asked to complete a PHI access form and will be required to provide photo ID to verify their identity. Access to PHI will be conducted in accordance with the Division's PHI policies and procedures. See the HIPPA document. Imediate access to PHI may not be able to be granted at time of request; it is the goal of the Division of Fire to act upon PHI requests within 48 hours of the request. |
