Garage Sale Weekend is May 15, 16, 17
With warmer weather comes the arrival of Garage Sale Season in the City of Vandalia. In an effort to assist citizens considering a garage sale, the City of Vandalia has declared the weekend of May 15 - 17 as Garage Sale Weekend. Residents who hold a garage sale on this date will not be required to obtain a Temporary Sales Permit.
Special advertising will be done to alert residents in the Northern Dayton region that Vandalia will be the place for bargain shoppers that third weekend of May.
While the designated Garage Sale Weekend is in May, Vandalia residents are permitted by Code to hold one three-day sale every six months without a permit.
For more detailed information on the City of Vandalia's "Temporary Sales" codes, read the Codified Ordinance 1276.30.
AND A WORD TO THE WISE ABOUT SIGNAGE…
The City of Vandalia permits just one sign advertising a garage sale. The sign cannot be larger than six square feet, and it’s important to note that no signs are permitted in the public right of way. That means your sign cannot be on a telephone pole, a light pole, on a grassy boulevard or in the tree lawn. Most people find the best option for a directional sign is to ask a private property owner on a heavily-traveled thoroughfare for permission to place the sign near the street.
