Vandalia Homecoming Parade details announced
The 2015 Vandalia-Butler Homecoming Parade will be held on Thursday, October 8th with a starting time of 5:45 pm. Just like last year, the parade route will start on North Dixie Drive at the fire station across from Dairy Crème,
The parade will run south on Dixie and end at the reconstructed driveway entrance just south of the new library construction site.
Vandalia police will be stopping traffic at Dixie at Northwoods and Dixie at E. Alkaline Springs Rd. All traffic from the south on Dixie will be routed to E. Alkaline Springs to Kenbrook to Ranchview. All the side streets will be blocked with sawhorses. Officers will be posted at National and Dixie.
The parade should last about 30 minutes.

New fee schedule for permits and inspections.
The City of Vandalia Development and Engineering Services department has updated the fees charged for various services. This marks the first time since 2007 that the fees have been revised. The complete listing of fees can be found by clicking HERE.
Charter Review Committee makes recommendations. Public hearing set.
The Charter Review Committee has met and is making recommendations to amend certain provisions in the Vandalia City Charter.
Any changes to the charter must be voted on and approved by a majority of voters.

The City of Vandalia is now using the Hyper-Reach notification system. This system can e-mail, text, and phone registered participants important information about emergencies such as tornado warnings, boil water advisories,evacuation orders, Amber Alerts and Silver Alerts. Your land line phone should already be registered in the system, but you will need to register your cell phone numbers.
Hyper-Reach uses a secure website to collect contact information which is used for emergency notification only. Your information is never shared with any outside party.

The next regularly scheduled meeting will be on Monday, October 19, at 7:00 p.m. The study session will be at 6:00 p.m. the meeting will be held in Council Chambers at the municipal building.
